One of the things that amazes me about biology is how much we learn about ourselves from studying other animals...and the incredible lengths scientists go to just to get that information. For example, in this episode of Tiny Matters, Sam and I learned about how scientists do experiments with hibernating bears...a feat that I admire and would never want to have to do myself. We also talk about a very different animal: cavefish. Why? Because one can teach us about blood clots, and the other can teach us about fatty liver disease.
